Winter visitors of the Emerald Coast looking for great weather and a lot of fun turn to Panama City Beach when the temperatures farther north drop below freezing and enticing visions of the beach dance in their heads! Commonly known to the Coast as the feathery flock, or “Snowbirds,” these winter guests travel from all over the united states and even parts of Canada to make their “comfy nests” along the white sands of Panama City Beach. It’s a place for snowbirds to let loose, get social and have some fun! The social calendars fill up quick for this bunch from neighborly meet and greets with friends, monthly dances, parties on the weekends, antiquing, arts and crafts classes, educational classes and more it keeps them focused on fun in the sun!
Friendly staff at the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) help out to locate events, attractions and deals during your stay in Panama City Beach. There are so many things to do in Panama City Beach that you’ll forget all about the cold weather back home!
We’d like to mention just a few of the events centered around monthly visitors, below:
** Mardi Gras on the Island – a New Orleans-style Mardi Gras parade on Okaloosa Island. Local clubs and businesses sponsor floats and walkers – parade goers add to their festive collections of beads. The Mardi Gras parade will be on January 19, 2013.
