Where Do the Locals Actually Eat on 30A?

← The Ultimate Guide to Vacationing on 30A

These aren’t sponsored recommendations or a list assembled from TripAdvisor. These are the restaurants I personally return to — and a few I send friends to when they ask where to eat on 30A.

The standouts

Café Thirty-A

Café Thirty-A exterior — one of the top fine dining restaurants on Scenic Highway 30A
Café Thirty-A — the benchmark for fine dining on 30A. Make a reservation.

If there’s one restaurant on 30A that would hold its own in any major American city, it’s Café Thirty-A. The food is consistently excellent — the kind of meal where every component of a dish is clearly thought through. It’s not cheap, and you need a reservation, but it’s the answer to the question “where’s the best dinner on 30A?” for a reason. If you’re celebrating something, this is where to go.

The Red Bar

The Red Bar in Grayton Beach — a longtime 30A institution for live music and local food
The Red Bar in Grayton Beach — a 30A institution. Live music, good food, and a room full of locals.

The Red Bar in Grayton Beach is as close to a 30A institution as anything on the highway. It’s been there for decades, it’s loud, it’s unpretentious, and it has live music most nights. The food is good — it’s not destination dining in the Café Thirty-A sense, but it doesn’t try to be. It’s the kind of place where you stay longer than you planned because you’re having too good a time. Go early or expect a wait.

The Perfect Pig

The Perfect Pig restaurant in Seagrove Beach — a favorite breakfast spot on 30A
The Perfect Pig in Seagrove Beach — a short walk from Leeward and worth every visit.

The Perfect Pig is walking distance from our condo and my most-visited restaurant on 30A by a wide margin. Breakfast and lunch, locally sourced, genuinely good food. The weekend morning line is real and worth it. This is the place I send every guest to first. If I’m only in Seagrove for a weekend, at least one morning starts here.

Old Florida Fish House

Also walkable from our condo — a reliable seafood spot with a good deck and the relaxed atmosphere that should be the standard for a 30A dinner. The fresh catch is consistently well-prepared. Not the most formal dining experience, but it’s honest and good and right there.

Bud and Alley’s

In Seaside, on the beach. The rooftop bar at sunset is one of the best spots on 30A for an evening drink. The food has held up well over the years. It gets crowded in summer — book ahead or arrive early for the bar.

Angelina’s Pizzeria

Also in Seagrove, also walkable. When you want something casual, reliably good, and easy to get into with kids — Angelina’s is the answer. It’s a local favorite precisely because it doesn’t try to be anything it isn’t.

The breakfast situation deserves its own section

Breakfast at The Perfect Pig in Seagrove Beach — a must-visit morning stop on 30A
Breakfast at The Perfect Pig — the kind of morning meal that sets the tone for a good beach day.

The Perfect Pig for breakfast is the clear first choice from Seagrove. If you want something different — or if you’re biking east — the Seaside Farmers Market on Saturday mornings is excellent for a slower, browse-and-graze kind of breakfast. The Donut Hole in Fort Walton Beach direction is a classic if you’re making a run that way.

Practical notes

Café Thirty-A and Bud and Alley’s require reservations in summer — book before your trip, not when you arrive. The Red Bar does not take reservations; arriving before 6pm significantly reduces your wait. The Perfect Pig does not take reservations for groups under six; the line moves faster than it looks.

Fresh seafood to cook at the condo: Buddy’s Seafood Market is the local answer. The kitchen at Leeward is fully equipped for cooking — bring a pound of fresh shrimp back from Buddy’s and dinner takes care of itself.
