These are the places I have been going back to for 17 years. The list does not change much because the quality does not change much.
Café Thirty-A
Café Thirty-A is in a class by itself. I have never had a bad meal there, and I have been going since the 1990s. Make a reservation. Do not improvise this one, especially in summer.
The Red Bar — Grayton Beach
The Red Bar is an institution. Good food, great atmosphere, live music most nights. It feels like a Florida beach bar from a different era — the good kind. Go for dinner, stay for the music. Drive or bike — it is about 10 minutes from Seagrove.
Old Florida Fish House
Casual, local, walking distance from the condo. The food is honest and the portions are generous. It is the kind of place you go without planning because you know it will be good.
Louie Louie’s
Louie Louie’s in WaterColor is a consistent favorite. Good pizza, great vibe, works for families and couples alike.
McGuire’s — Destin
If you are willing to drive 30 minutes, McGuire’s in Destin is a must at least once. Irish pub, enormous menu, good steaks, and dollar bills covering every surface. It is one of those places you can not explain — you just have to go.
Practical advice
In peak season, reservations matter for the top spots. For everything else, arrive before 6pm or after 8pm to avoid the worst waits. The restaurants on 30A are genuinely good — better than most beach towns of this size — so even second and third choices tend to be solid.
